The “Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse: The Ultimate Blind Date” white paper explores how the new rule will affect carriers and how they can prepare for its implementation
August 7, 2018 (Anaheim, Cal.)— DriverFacts announces the availability of its new white paper on the Federal Motor Carrier Association’s (FMCSA) new Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse rule. The final rule, which goes into effect in early 2020, is designed to help FMCSA and motor carriers better identify commercial drivers who are prohibited from operating commercial vehicles because of drug and alcohol violations and refusals-to-test.
“Although the Clearinghouse rule doesn’t start for quite some time,” says Dave Widly, DriverFacts’ president and CEO. “It’s imperative that carriers understand how it will affect the transportation industry and how they can prepare for its implementation.”
The white paper, entitled “Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse: The Ultimate Blind Date”, answers the most frequently asked questions about the new rule, as well as provides an overview of all the important details carriers need to know, including: final rule requirements; added responsibilities for employers and carriers; obligations for each reporting entity; cost to drivers’ access to their own records; and differences between full and limited queries It also explores how records are to be made available under the rule and the important steps needed to ensure compliance with the Privacy Act.
“We’ve tried to bring clarity to many of the confusing and unclear aspects of the clearinghouse rule and make them easier to digest,” says Widly. “This white paper is good read if you’ve been unsure of what the final rule means for your company.”
